Working with a client in Milton Keynes, we are looking for Assembly Technicians to work as part of an effective production team manufacturing prototype high voltage batteries, electrical harnesses and associated sub assemblies in a shop floor environment. This role involves operating various machines as well as hand and power tools on a production line. The role is to support temporary additional build requirements and is likely to be for 6 months.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following key responsibilities are intended only as a guide in this evolving role:
Build & assembly
To carry out build and assembly tasks ensuring high quality is maintained while achieving agreed cycle times to meet agreed operations build plans.
Key tasks will include:
– Build & assembly of high voltage batteries for various applications.
– Harness build & assembly
– Build & assembly of mechanical and electrical prototype parts
– Read and understand technical drawings & build manuals
– Carry out inspection and tests of manufactured components
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)
– Stop work and immediately report any major injury hazards.
– Report any work-related injury, illness, incident or hazard.
– Comply with HSE standards, policies, procedures and regulations.
– Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
– Promote interdependence by looking out for one another.
– Correct hazards within your control and capabilities.
– Recognise how your work may impact the environment and work to minimise the negative impact.
– Engage in HSE Training
Quality
– Follows all applicable standard work, process documentation and quality procedures such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), poka-yoke and visual standards.
– Raises issues to minimise cost and quality exposures.
– Performs quality inspections.
– Identifies and controls non-conforming material.
Delivery
– Fully proficient with all work processes, independently operating equipment to manufacture and assemble product to create the proper characteristics and dimensions necessary to meet customer expectations.
– Achieves production goals.
– Works at the required cycle time or defined engineering standard.
– Maintains clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping tasks and machine cleaning tasks and performs planned operator care and maintenance tasks.
– Remains flexible and performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to meet production goals.
– Works with peers, skilled trades and support staff to maintain and identify equipment needing repair.
Teamwork
– Communicates effectively with the assigned team and with all support teams.
– Completes training and personal development in line with business requirements.
– Participates actively in ways to improve quality, safety, process, material flow, and employee development.
– Works well as part of a team with other operators on a production line
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets requirements.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Essential
– Experience working on mechanical assemblies
– Good interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
– Ability to maintain a high quality of output
– Experience using hand and power tools
– Flexible approach to work schedule and to assist in production assembly build plan
– Proactive approach towards health and safety
– Ability to read and understand technical drawings
Desirable
– Experience with high voltage applications
– Experience with electrical components build and assembly process
– Experience of working on and understanding of production lines.
– Understanding of electrical components, and their functionality
– Understanding of High Voltage working environments
– Experience working in a prototype/ R&D environment
