Your part in our Journey
The Lead Project Manager (LPM) will implement projects in accordance with our methodology to ensure successful completion as measured by time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction. The LPM will manage delivery and mitigate risks in support of the project owner’s business objectives. The LPM will work in the PMO core team and coordinate the efforts of project teams drawn from across Shell Energy’s business departments.
Your part in the team
* Support the PMO Manager in implementing policies determined by the Head of PMO.
* Work with the PMO Manager and team to develop world class disciplines within the PMO function and all other aspects of Project Management best practice.
* Champion and own initiatives to improve PMO disciplines, project management practice, and the engagement with other first:utility teams.
* Line management responsibility of one or more members of the PMO team.
* Provide comprehensive mentoring and coaching to junior members of the PMO team.
* Support the PMO Manager in the collation, preparation and updating of financial and resource data and of financial and resource forecasting, ensuring that the data is accurate, relevant, and to the right level of quality.
* Lead the shaping of new change initiatives using the PMO lifecycle to inform key decisions on prioritising our portfolio pipeline of projects
* Co-ordinate activities to define project scope, goals, deliverables and success criteria.
* Deliver project outcomes to meet the defined success criteria of time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction.
* Maintain and look to improve processes to ensure project management documentation, reports and plans are relevant, appropriate to the complexity, accurate and complete
* Lead the development of project plans to identify project tasks, deliverables, milestones, and resourcing requirements
* Management of projects in line with Shell Energy’s project delivery methodology and standards
* Ensure the appropriate project control documentation is in place and maintained
What you'll need to make the most of the role
Project management certification e.g. PMP, APMP, APMPQ, CPM, Prince2 or equivalent preferred
Proven project manager competences and demonstrable knowledge of project management principles, tools and techniques leading to successful project delivery
Subject matter expertise in an area of project management practice with the ability to coach and disseminate that knowledge to peers. Furthermore seeks to embed this area of best practice in the PMO.
Proven experience in providing service to internal stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes
Ability to work within a framework of project delivery and quality gate acceptance processes within a fast paced, agile business environment
Demonstrated capability for problem solving, decision making, sound judgement, assertiveness
Excellent oral and written communication as well as excellent presentation skills with the ability to conduct presentations comfortably to large groups
Confronts issues openly, honestly and quickly
Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
Skilled at describing the positive benefits of PMO disciplines to senior managers and peers in other parts of the organisation.
Extensive experience in structuring and leading high performing cross-functional project teams.
