Based in Milton Keynes but travelling as necessary, the role shall manage the performance of all European DCOM Centres, comprising of four business units, with full Online P&L responsibility. Appointing and developing effective sales leaders across our business is central to our continued growth. The Head of Ecommerce Role Reporting to the Group Regional Director, you will be managing the performance of all European DCOM Centres (EDC), with full Online P&L responsibility. Macfarlane currently operate 4 profitable DCOM business units in the UK and EU whereby you shall manage all site personnel and ensuring all key functions are run effectively and operate in harmony, incorporating Sales, Purchasing, Logistics and Credit Control. Taking an active lead within the management of a progressive and successful ecommerce business, including implementation of new business sales initiatives, and having a hands-on approach to account management. All the above is undertaken to ensure that Online sales and profit targets are achieved and exceeded. Head of Ecommerce Key Responsibilities
Create & implement a strategic business plan for the DCOM businesses in the UK and EU/elsewhere to ensure a robust online presence and competitive market share.
Generate annual P/L Budgets for submission to CEO for approval
Direct supervision of the following: DCOM Manager, with supporting influence over key areas of Sales, Customer Care, Procurement and Logistics.
Make commercial decisions based on balancing the needs for revenue and profit both gross and nett.
Maximise sales & profit responsibly whilst controlling DCOM profit & loss.
Support the DCOM Business Manager to oversee management of Business Development Teams to ensure robust delivery of new business sales and existing customer loyalty.
Liaise with Marketing to ensure optimum Online presence through search engines and social engagement.
Encourage and maintain excellent levels of customer service at all times.
Work in a constructive manner to promote co-operation between the DCOM business and RDCs across the group.
Participate & regulate meetings of different departments within Business Units.
Participate in review meetings with the DCOM Business Manager and all other Sales and Customer Care Teams on a regular basis.
Oversee staff development, ensuring that performance and development assessments are completed, and opportunities for development are provided.
Do you have the correct profile? Firstly, you must be an experienced online business manager (minimum five years track record), which will have enjoyed full P&L responsibility. It’s also important that you have managed key functions spanning sales/purchasing & logistics. A strong and effective leadership style is essential, the ability to coach/mentor and develop others in addition to performance management, conflict resolution and recruitment. Technically, we require you to have experience of online Marketing Platforms and SEO/PPC Engagement as well as an understanding of eCommerce Platforms (ideally Magento and/or Cloudfy). You must also demonstrate an ability to generate an increasing market opportunity within the UK and EU and establish continued Sales and Profit Growth. You will also have an aspirational desire to work towards a Senior Leadership / Directorial Role within the Macfarlane Group. Whilst not essential, it would be advantageous for you to have experience of online sales business and/or online marketing strategies, or high-volume transactional operations. Some prior exposure to the packaging industry is always a bonus but in the absence of this, experience of working within a fast-moving distribution, wholesale or FMCG business would really help.
