Research & Development Engineer – AI & Machine Learning
Austin Fraser are currently recruiting on behalf of a community-centric organisation to recruit a Research & Development Engineer as one of the first hires for a Pan-European Research Institute to support the creation of new software and advisory services that will encourage the take-up and deployment of advanced artificial intelligence and other emerging technology solutions in key industries.
This role will research the latest technologies and techniques and analyse data from industries including; energy production, space, aerospace, and defense. The research carried out in this role will guide the strategic direction of the business and it is expected that the person in this role will be able to engineer prototypes and 'proof of concept' solutions that prove the viability of new business solutions.
Required Experience & Skills:
A proven track record in a research capacity, ideally focussed on domains such as engineering and emerging technologies (AI & Machine Learning).
A postdoctoral researcher in physics, maths or statistics.
Strong proficiency with Python in the context of Data Analytics, Machine Learning, and Data Science.
Knowledge of a range of statistical methods (Regression, Classification etc).
Experience working with technical and non-technical external stakeholders and community partners.
Experience building MVPs backed by robust research.
Ability to identify relevant and valuable data sources and automate collection processes.
In addition to English, speaks at least one European language, ideally two (French and Italian preferred) in order to engage with local business and academic leaders in key European markets.
Strong math skills (e.g. statistics, algebra).
Ability to present information using data visualization techniques.
Problem-solving aptitude with an ability to propose solutions and strategies to business challengesThis role is based in Milton Keynes, and the salary on offer is up to £35,000 DoE.
