Role: Lead Business Analyst, Milton Keynes (Hybrid/Remote)
The Lead Business Analyst (BA) looks after the BA Capability comprising both internal and Partner resources. The role sits within Digital Product Delivery and works primarily on digital initiatives delivered by Agile delivery workstreams or project teams.
The Lead BA is a highly proficient, customer facing professional who possesses a solid combination of business analysis, stakeholder management and people management skills. It is a hands-on role balancing delivery initiatives at Sprint level, Project level or organisation-wide change. Moreover, the role brings creativity to improve processes to further enhance the accurate capture of complex requirements and ensure continuous delivery momentum.
You will report into our Senior Delivery Manager and work alongside other Capability peers to ensure alignment and consistency across their disciplines of Delivery, Architecture, Software Engineering, and QA & Testing.
Responsibilities
● Provide leadership to geographically dispersed Business Analysis teams and manage and grow the BA Capability.
● Engage with (senior) stakeholders (internal and external) to understand their environment and business needs.
● Work alongside Product Managers to prepare Sprint backlogs and document detailed user stories (including NFRs).
● Lead key workshops, including requirement elicitation sessions and Sprint refinement sessions.
● Support Product Management by helping them to make informed prioritisation decisions based on feasibility.
● Work within cross-skilled Agile delivery workstreams to ensure requirements are ready, Acceptance Criteria defined, and best practices are being followed (e.g., INVEST).
● Oversee the development and implementation of solutions to ensure they meet requirements.
● Provide support to Testing teams when necessary.
● Untangle ambiguous scenarios to advise the Business and guide them to data driven decisions that could have a measurable impact on revenues.
● Aware of industry and technology developments to help validate and justify business needs, conduct feasibility studies, producing high-level and detailed business models and prepare business cases.
● Guide senior stakeholders with clear explanation to help accept change brought about through process reengineering or technology.
● Leads the selection of appropriate business analysis methods, tools and techniques.
● Defines the BA Capability’s operating model and ensures it is followed by the team.
● Introduce process improvements that yield efficiencies or improve the requirements capture pipeline (i.e. quality, security and velocity), through continuous improvement of process, methodology, learning and tooling.
Experience and skills
● Solid experience of leading BA Capabilities in dynamic and digital-native organisations.
● Working in customer-facing roles, providing consultancy and analysis services on a broad range of initiatives.
● Proven background in working within Sprint teams for Agile software delivery.
● Experienced in working on major projects or programme deliveries that led to organisational wide business change.
● Proven experience of working with both internal and Partner teams.
● Defining KPIs to measure team effectiveness and continuous improvement.
● Excellent understanding of all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
● Good high-level understanding of software/application architecture.
● Technically astute and experienced in capturing non-functional requirements specifically security, performance, accessibility, and data privacy needs.
● Experienced in working within PCI, GDPR and highly secure environments.
● Experience of working on multiple and varied projects or delivery workstreams simultaneously.
● Excellent customer management skills.
● Excellent communication skills at all levels of seniority
