Job Purpose:
About the role / project:
Network Rail are currently looking for a Lead BI Author to work on the enablement of Business Intelligence (BI) across Network Rail. You will Lead a BI product roadmap, be responsible for the prioritisation of enhancements, design and delivery of solutions and realisation of benefits.
Key Duties of the role:
Own and maintain a Network Rail Business Intelligence (BI) product roadmap by engagement with key stakeholders.
Capture and document business requirements and translate into technical requirements for data warehouse extensions.
Accountable for designing and executing appropriate tests to maximise the quality of data warehouse enhancements. Responsible for signing off enhancements on behalf of the business.
Design and develop complex BI solutions in compliance with Network Rail Standards and Policies and meet customer requirements using NR's strategic BI applications.
Develop an appropriate security model, giving users the right access based on their role and need, within scope of the wider security framework and in line with data protection legislation.
Identify and capture business benefits to each BI solution and support the realisation of these benefits following the delivery of improvements.
Build product documentation confirming ownership and underlying processes required for maintenance and support of the BI catalogue.
Proactively promote user adoption of the service through the design and delivery of training, engagement with super users and creation/facilitation of user groups.
Support the introduction of new technologies and authoring techniques in accordance with Network Rail's BI strategy.
Essential
Subject matter expert, or extensive experience, in MS PowerBI.
Recognised business analysis qualification (BCS Certificate in Business Analysis Practice) or equivalent experience.
Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
Ability to communicate, build relationships and influence decision making at all levels.
Able to work to tight deadlines and manage their time effectively.
Experience of implementation of BI solutions to complex business problems.
Ability to summarise complex issues for Executive debate.
Ability to interface with technical and business communities at strategic and detail level.
Working knowledge of data modelling / architectureDesirable
Experience of multiple end-user reporting/BI applications.
