IDEAL Networks have an ambitious new product road map and our new Hardware Engineering Manager will be critical to the successful delivery of this road map together with the maintenance of our existing products.
The Hardware Engineering Manager will lead our inhouse Hardware team and external design agencies and oversee the development of hardware for both new and existing products.
You will also work closely with our Supply Chain Engineering team to ensure all products are manufacturable.
This is a hands-on role, where you will have the opportunity to work across a range of products at all stages of their development.
Key Responsibilities include:
* To deliver all projects on time, on quality and on budget in accordance with the product roadmap
* To manage the hardware development engineers and the support engineer
* To Plan and manage hardware activities from feasibility through to product release and support during the products lifetime including maintenance, obsolescence issues and end of life.
* To Produce specifications / design briefs for outsourced engineering partners and ensure partners deliver to specification, on time, on quality and on budget.
* To take ownership of the development processes, designing, implementing, testing hardware for new products and maintenance of existing products
* To manage Hardware design information ownership: BOMs, item masters and change control through use of our Engineer Control System
* To ensure all designs are in line with relevant external standards and to manage the test and approvals process (EMC, Safety, Environmental, RoHS, REACH)
* Design and implement the production test environments for manufacturing
Requirements
You will be a graduate in electronic engineering or electrical design.
You will have extensive experience in analogue design and the design of handheld or battery powered equipment/ battery technology.
You will also demonstrate a track record in designing products for manufacture and test and EMC, Safety and Environmental testing.
We would also expect you to have a minimum of 5 years-experience using and managing an Engineering Control system / Configuration management tool and of requirements capture, project feasibility and evaluation using sound engineering principles, project planning, circuit design, design verification and validation.
In addition to engineering skills, we are looking for a leader, who can motivate a team, and can convey ideas and information effectively across the business and with external partners.
We are also looking for flexibility; the ability to move between projects and contribute to multiple teams is very important in this role.
