Development Team Leader
Paying up to £45,000 per annum plus benefits including pension scheme, critical illness cover, 4 x life assurance, perkbox, company bonus, 25 days holiday increasing with service and ability to purchase additional leave
This role will be home based until February at the earliest with views of then returning to the office in Milton Keynes but with continued flexible working.
This is an opportunity to join on the UK’s leading software companies in the Insurance market. As part of a companywide technology initiative, they are looking to hire a new Development Team Leader to lead a team of Developers to support the demand and development of their own products and tools. The focus of the role will be people management, specifically personal development, performance management and helping get the best out of people. This person must have experience in an Agile delivery environment, process improvement and performance management.
Key responsibilities:
* Line manage team members setting clear goals, carrying out regular reviews and annual appraisals
* Develop team members by identifying training areas and agreeing individual development plans
* Assist with career planning to maintain a skilled resource pool and robust succession planning
* Talent managing the team to ensure they have the best people and make recommendations to reward the positive working behaviours
* Manage resource utilisation making recommendations for headcount changes where required
* Pro-actively manage and assist with delivery as required
* Working with the eCommerce Manager, and other team leaders to ensure the highest quality of software
* Ensure professional and industry best practices are utilised throughout the full Software Development Lifecycle
* Champion continuous improvement
* Continually review and update team processes and practices
* Assist in team reporting to ensure correct representation of the team is reflected and performance measures are recorded / managed
* Keep abreast of current and new technology, to ensure technical and technology skills are up-to date
* Support the ongoing recruitment of new employees and training plans
* Support the eCommerce Manager to cultivate a highly-motivated team, through development and training plans, encouraging and supporting the team in achieving their career goals
* Other tasks as directed by management team
Experience, Skills & Knowledge:
* 2+ years related experience in Software Development and leading teams
* Good knowledge of Software Development and testing lifecycles
* Experience in Agile/Scrum skills, methodologies, and ceremonies
* Previous staff management experience of diverse team of skill sets, including direct responsibility for recruitment, retention, and release
* Deep knowledge of all facets of software development, associated requirements capture, architecture, design, development, QA, deployment, change management, and a direct background in software development
* Innovative and creative, with a logical and methodical approach to problem solving
* Ability to demonstrate stakeholder management
* Insurance/Financial Services knowledge (advantageous)
