DATA SCIENTIST
Permanent Role- Milton Keynes
£50,000 per annum
Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, 35 hours per week
Our esteemed client is now looking to recruit a strong Data scientist on a permanent basis working 2 days a week from home.
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Developing data analysis automation tools and performing in-silica analysis for big data sets for coming up with continuous improvements in data and assay quality. Performing trend analysis on data from both the Core and Covid test lab to ensure efficient performance of all assays and processes used in the lab. Identifying and quantifying measurement of uncertainty for all the different platforms. that will be responsible for the analysis of sample data and correct tracking and recording of the analysis in the appropriate LIMS database, to the lab’s accreditation standards.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
This role will provide the laboratory with an individual experienced in laboratory
operations and management, who is a proven team leader, to manage the personnel and processes within the Labs.
Reporting to the Head of Scientific Support and Development, they will ensure that lab processes are carried out safely, efficiently and to the quality standards required of ISO15189:2012 laboratory accreditation. Line Management responsibilities for several Data Leads operating a shift pattern.
The duties outlined below are an outline of the tasks, responsibilities and outcomes required of the role. The post holder will also be expected to carry out other duties as may reasonably be required.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform Data Analysis on high throughput data on both Core and Covid Data
• Perform Trend analysis and troubleshooting using all data variables
• Liaise with the informatics team to build automated data monitoring tools and dashboards
• Perform In-silica experiments and meta-analysis on various lab data
• Perform and analyse data to identify recurring issues within the quality of the process
• Troubleshoot the process and work on continuous improvement of the process.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
1. MSc in relevant science or demonstrable experience in handling large data sets from a high throughput laboratory
2. Evidence of ability to troubleshoot issues using data monitoring tools
3. Experience of maintaining documents and procedures within laboratory accreditation specifications (ISO15189:2012).
4. Experience in DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR EPCR file formats.
5. Knowledge and experience with tools like R, Python, SQL databases
6. Basic Knowledge with Bioinformatics and Biostatistics
7. Evidence of excellent communication and extensive team-working skills.
8. Evidence of excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
9. Evidence of line management.
