Data Science Engineer – £50,000 – £60,000 with excellent benefits. 12 months fixed term contract.
This role is part remote. Head office is based in Milton Keynes.
We're looking for a Data Science Engineer to support the ongoing Business Intelligence initiative, using data to drive business insights. "Turning data into wisdom"
You will work with business users, members of the IT team and 3rd party developers, to provide technical delivery of best-practice data and insight solutions with the aim of users having access to self-service analytics.
As Data Science Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Working closely with business stakeholders from the ideas stage through to delivery, analysing business requirements and ensuring solutions meet business needs, maximising the value of the data
Lead requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders and manage change in relation to specified requirements
Help in creating and supporting insightful dashboards using Qlik Sense
Work with SMEs to understand the structure, content, and interfaces to existing internal systems
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, automate manual processes, optimise data delivery for greater scalability across the business.
Producing, validating and being responsible for the growth and future direction for a robust and scalable platform for centralised data management, data governance and production of reporting and insight
Document and present solutions to key stakeholders
Support the design and implementation of governed Data models
Creation of data policies and standards
Work closely with Qlik developers, data managers, and technology teams to document and leverage their understanding of the data
Understanding of and architecting for the needs of Data Science initiatives
Help build and support the data hub
Deliver timely reports and extracts
We're looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
Excellent knowledge of a range of BI Tools with experience of data visualisation and dashboards. Previous experience in QlikSense / QlikView desirable.
Ability to translate business needs into solutions
A comprehensive understanding of data warehousing, and extract, transform and load both at a software and hardware level
Proven experience of delivering scalable, robust, and secure data solutions
Previous experience in understanding of data processes i.e., data quality, data profiling, scorecards, data governance etc.
Previous experience in building and supporting enterprise-level data warehousing within cloud-based tools such as Redshift or Snowflake
Experience with SQL and ETL, python and agile methodologies
Track record of working in a fast-paced project-based team environment, managing multiple workstreams and priorities, covering the end-to-end data lifecycle
Experience with building and maintaining data dictionaries / meta-data
Experience in developing and delivering data dictionaries and business glossaries.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Exposure to data and analytics application build processes at all stages of the software development lifecycle
MDM (Master Data management) is desirable
QLIK / nPrinting report writing is desirable
