ROLE: Data Architect

LOCATION: Cranfield
The Data Architect will be working on ground-breaking projects as my client change how FMCG companies anticipate the demand of their products. The core of this is creating, developing and curating a huge and diverse data asset that has potential to significantly reduce waste and increase sales.
Responsibilities of the Data Architect:
– Transform logical design papers into physical design proposals
– Set principles of physical design for others and ensure compliance
– Collect data platform requirements and manage the implementation of suitable solutions
– Optimise database design for performance, cost, security and maintainability
– Advise on technology stack improvements
– Analyse improvements to software lifecycle process
– Implement and ensure compliance to software lifecycle process
– Lead a team of database developers in deploying robust database designs
– Design improved data engineering pipelines and demonstrate through proof of concept
– Create a platform for data asset curation (data lineage visibility & data dictionary)
ESSENTIALS: (If you are missing some of the below please do not let this put you off! Let us have an informal chat!)
– Experience working with and analysing diverse datasets
– Demonstrable database & data warehouse design experience
– Good understanding of advantages of different database design patterns (Kimball, 3NF, Star
Schema, Snowflake, Data Vault)
– Able to communicate principles and techniques of data engineering and database object design
DESIRABLES:
– Team leadership
– Software lifecycle management
– Experience working with or implementing robust test regimes
– DBA experience
– Experience of Grocery supply chain advantageous, but demonstration of abstracting specific
business logic to generalised concepts is equally important
