Business Analyst (Product Owner) – temporary contract for 3 months, could go on until March 2022

Our client, a leading provider of life science solutions are now looking for a Business Analyst to support their work with Covid-19 testing and clinical trials for a temporary contract for 3 months with possible extension until end of March 2022. The main purpose of the role is to create business and solution requirements documentation for new business requirements requiring technical solutions, assisting Informatics team in making available accurate, sufficient, and clearly written inputs for technical delivery.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Business Analyst you will be liaising with business stakeholders to capture accurate and clear business requirements using BDD method of requirements analysis, complete with user stories and acceptance criteria
Organise and manage business requirements, their versioning and iterative development through the solutions delivery lifecycle
Manage a requirements/ user stories’ backlog on JIRA and keep it continually updated based on immediate priorities and overall strategy and business objectives
Provide ideas and clarifications on backlog items to business and Informatics team to make them more meaningful and useful to business
Organise sprint planning workshops and ensure development team has a clear set of backlog items to work on in every sprint
Organise sprint retrospectives and present the developed product to business stakeholders and seek feedback
Evaluate development progress at each step and look for ways to optimise on deliverables, managing dependencies in the backlog and suggesting meaningful changes to scope and sequence
Support business and Informatics in problem-solving to meet business needs
Provide rapid response to Exec Management Team’s requests for new reports by clarifying and documenting requirements and acceptance criteria
Support the testing lead in designing test plans and test cases to ensure validation is planned in a thorough or fit-for-purpose manner
Develop knowledge of business processes and seek to develop automation opportunities and overall product visions working with business and Informatics team
Contribute to developing internal delivery standards, documentation, tools, methods, and environments, aimed at standardising methods across all Informatics work undertaken in the organisation
Interact extensively with clinical LIMS administrators, Informatics team, senior lab operatives, and the lab management team, helping them identify issues with their current business processes and proposing solution ideas
Essential Qualifications and Experience for the Business Analyst

5+ years of demonstrated business/requirements analysis experience using a combination of agile and waterfall methods, in sophisticated business environments
3+ years of using JIRA and agile backlog management
3+ years of experience in a scientific or similar environment supporting business and IT in delivering complex solutions
Out of which, 1+ years of experience in LIMS or other scientific application development
Formal training and certification in agile methodologies and agile backlog management
Formal degree or advanced certification in a technical field (computing/ computer applications/ software engineering)
Outlining customer journeys, user stories and use cases
Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases and data warehousing
Proficiency in using Scrum/ JIRA for backlog management
Strong experience in TDD/BDD environments
Good at documenting accurate and clear fit-for-purpose specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria
Ability to anticipate business stakeholder needs
Working skills in a CI/ CD/ DevOps environment
Desirable Experience

Deep experience of the bioscience sector would be beneficial, particularly working with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
