Business Intelligence Engineer – SQL / Power BI / DAX – £40k + bonus – remote

Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen with an exciting medical research organisation for a BI Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join an expanding team with substantial career growth opportunities.

The role:
• Collect, analyzes, and shares data to help business teams drive improvement in key business metrics, customer experience, and business results.
• Utilize database and reporting technologies to design, develop, and evaluate innovative business intelligence tools and automated reports.
• Design, develops and tests BI solutions such as databases, data warehouses, queries and views, reports, and dashboards.
• Perform data conversions, imports, and exports of data within and between internal and external software systems.
• Integrate BI platforms with enterprise systems and applications.
• Enhance the performance of business intelligence tools by defining data to filter and index.
• Document new and existing models, solutions, and implementations.
• Contribute to the appropriate Agile ceremonies.

Responsibilities
• Translate business needs to technical specifications
• Design, build and deploy BI solutions (e.g. reporting tools)
• Maintain and support data analytics platforms (e.g. MicroStrategy)
• Create tools to store data (e.g. OLAP cubes)
• Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
• Evaluate and improve existing BI systems
• Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
• Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses
• Create visualizations and reports for requested projects
• Analyze existing reports and optimize them for standardization across the company.
• Develop and update technical documentation

Skills and Experience:
• Proven experience working as a BI Developer
• Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining
• Understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
• Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI,DAX)
• Extensive knowledge of SQL and data manipulation languages
• Knowledge of the Azure Data Factory
