Test Engineer – Electric Motors

A position has become available for a leading aerospace engineering company for a Test Engineer based in Buckinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity for anybody with a mechanical or electronic testing background that ideally has experience with Electric motors who would like to work for a well-established organisation and expand their skillset.

You will execute testing, write technical reports, and support the development of brand-new technology in a rapidly expanding market. You will work on some of the most cutting-edge electric motor technology and will need some knowledge of high-speed drives/dynos or motors. You will also need experience in performing Development and Qualification testing using various pieces of test equipment, including (but not limited to):

High speed test rigs
Environmental Chambers (e.g. Temperature, Altitude)
Motor testing equipment (e.g. dynos, torque cells)
Manual Test Equipment for Electronic products
PD and Flash testing equipment
Structural testing of products and its components (Bearings, rotor etc.)
Component testing
For this role understanding rotating equipment would be very beneficial but you could come from a production background without knowledge of test as a lot of training will be available to get you up to speed, you will need a technical production background and the willingness to learn on the job. This role also offers great progression, and you will be supported through your development.

Responsibilities

lead and coordinating test and development activities.
work alongside project team to deliver work on schedule.
Plan and priorities required test work; this might include managing workload of the small team.
Support maintenance and development of the current and future motor and generator testing capabilities within the department
