Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer – Static Equipment – Milton Keynes / Part Remote

Job Description:

A Senior/Principal Static Equipment engineer is required for major olefins, refinery and petrochemical projects located in both domestic and international markets. Candidates are required to possess a thorough working knowledge of all classes of static equipment, including vessels, columns, heat exchangers, various packages.

Reporting lines and interactions:

Hierarchically reports to: Discipline Department Manager

Operationally reports to:  Project Manager

Directly supervises: Mechanical Engineers

Key interactions (internally, externally):

Engineers within mechanical, process and other disciplines, engineers and technical specialists from engineering Contractor, Client and equipment vendors.

Job scope:

– Prepare and check engineering procedures and standards.
– Prepare and check the basis of design, specifications, data sheets, requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and drawings.
– Provide technical recommendations on the selection of equipment to meet Project requirements.
– Check and review vendor proposals, documentation and drawings.
– Participate in project, client and vendor meetings.
– Provide Input to Construction Sub Contract and evaluate bids
– Be prepared to travel in the UK and overseas for meetings, equipment testing and site technical support to meet Project requirements

Typical background and experience required:

A degree in Mechanical Engineering or an HNC with extensive experience, if without Degree or charter applicable experience shall be clearly demonstrated.

Previous experience as a team member in major projects in the Petrochemical and related industries is required.

Must be familiar with European, American, and International standards applicable to the petrochemical industry.

Candidate shall be familiar with static and packaged equipment. This shall include the following:

Slug catcher, separation vessels, desalter packages, dehydration packages, stabilizer column, pig launcher and common types of heat exchangers.

Nice to have:

Chartered Engineer Status

Experience gained within an Equipment Manufacturing or Operating Company.

Specific experience related to rotating equipment within major Ethylene Plants and Refineries.
