Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Our client is looking for a good all round Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a mechanical engineering or Aerospace qualification – Degree, HND etc. You should have experience gained from working in: Defence, Aerospace, Medical, Automotive or similar regulated industries. The successful candidate should have good design engineering experience with some good analysis skills to prove design, have 3D CAD experience, ideally Solidworks. Our client will offer training to candidates FEA course, also support ILM courses and PDM/ PLM. They will also support achieving chartered engineering status. This role is located in Marlow with some remote / flexible working (3 days office 2 days home) and offers a very competitive salary with bonus and excellent benefits.
Role Purpose
As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer you will be expected to be creative and innovative in the generation of concepts and detailed designs using 3D CAD and FEA & CFD simulation tools. Our client is looking for an engineer capable of designing products, critiquing, developing and following the process through to delivery. Someone with tenacity, attention to detail and capable of leading their own projects autonomously.
As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will provide expert technical guidance to the mechanical design team, supporting the Chief Mechanical Engineer in maintaining a high-quality technical output on time and to cost.
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities:
* Produce detailed designs using 3D CAD and use FEA and CFD tools to simulate mechanical behaviour
* Undertake tolerance analysis of designs including Geometric Dimensioning and tolerancing.
* Generate and amend drawings and documentation to appropriate standards including BS8888 and Bills of Materials.
* Investigate and define answers to design problems via NCR’s from manufacturing.
* Produce documentation to support CDRL (Contract Data Requirements List)
* Conduct risk analysis
* Use FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to diagnose faults
* Act as Lead Engineer on projects and bids when required
* Continuous improvement of processes and tools including support to corporate change initiatives
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Qualifications & Experience:
* Qualification within Aerospace or Engineering
* Experience of engineering product life cycle and development phases.
* Experience of using 3D CAD packages, use of Solidworks would be an advantage
* Rounded overview of mechanical engineering, including structural analysis and CFD (predominantly thermal).
* A broad understanding of materials, treatments and finishes and their environmental implications
* Knowledge of composite design and production techniques (ideally GFRP)
* Proven ability to support sustainability; to re-engineer, modify and support production.
* Experience gained from Defence, Aerospace, Automotive, Medical or similar regulated industry
