The Client:
We are working with a cutting-edge automotive manufacturer, who is developing exciting new technologies. Their engineering team is responsible for developing and supplying situational awareness and navigation platforms. Since their founding 3 years ago they have rapidly expanded and recently gained a significant 8 figure investment from OEMs and Tier 1s.
Their product is supported by a proprietary software backed up by hundreds of patents (issued or pending). As this team of high-profile engineers and scientists continues to grow, they are looking invest in the career of a Senior Hardware Engineer.
The Role:
You will work throughout the project engineering lifecycle developing new products and designing hardware. Working with leading OEMs and Tiers 1s all products will need to comply with automotive-grade electronics standards.
Responsibilities of a Senior Hardware Engineer within the business include:
Working with the R&D team to understand system requirements.
Developing electronics hardware to customer requirements on schedule.
Design validation within an Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) environment.
Reviewing subcontractor PCB designs.
Optimising subcontractor designs.
Providing hardware testing support through activities such as end-of-line production tests, designing test benches and functional testing of designs.
Conducting electrical system testing, including EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility).
Qualifications/Experience:
The desired candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject such as Electronics Engineering or Computer Science. You will be experienced at bringing PCB designs from reference design through to mass production. You will have good knowledge of embedded systems development, including microcontrollers and relevant communications and network interface protocols such as SPI, UART, CAN, I2C and LVDS. You will need good digital hardware design skills with hardware such as MCUs, FPGAs, SDRAM and ASIC. Good overall knowledge of board-level analogue electronics, power supplies, filters, references, sensors and optoelectronic components.
