Senior Electrical Design Engineer Milton Keynes, UK £45-55k + benefits

This is a new and interesting role for an experienced electrical design engineer to join an expanding and successful automotive technology company. The company is involved with the development and manufacture of products and systems for the electric vehicle and hybrid electric vehicle market. Also, it offers an impressive array of test facilities for the automotive market.

This role is aligned to the design and development of electrical systems in support of the test system facilities and its high value test equipment.

Required: Senior Electrical Design Engineer

* Good electrical design experience gained within an industrial environment involving capital equipment / machinery and instrumentation (e.g. test systems, automated machinery, robotics, variable speed drives.)

* Able to own projects and take them from initial requirements through to final commissioning and sign-off.

* Good practical electrical installation, commissioning and test experience.

* Ability to specify electrical systems designs as well as produce electrical schematics (2D CAD) for low voltage applications (24V to 1000V dc or 1500V ac)

As well as the support of new test equipment you will be involved with developing electrical solutions to upgrade and develop existing systems.

This senior electrical design engineer position is an important role within the business. You will need to be able to own and deliver electrical design and development projects from start to finish. Experience of working on the design of electrical systems involving instrumentation and ideally automation would be preferred.

Skills / Knowledge required:

* A formal qualification in electrical engineering (ideally HNC, HND or degree)

* Good electrical design experience gained within an industrial environment involving capital equipment / machinery and instrumentation (e.g. test systems, automated machinery, robotics, variable speed drives.)

* Able to own projects and take them from initial requirements through to final commissioning and sign-off.

* Good practical electrical installation, commissioning and test experience (panel build etc)

* Ability to specify electrical systems designs as well as produce electrical schematic for low voltage applications (24V to 1000V dc or 1500V ac)

* Good experience of the design of electrical systems including instrumentation.

* Knowledge of variable speed drives and automation would be preferred (e.g. PLC control)

* Experience of safety systems and noise immunity (e.g. EMI)

* Good experience with 2D CAD systems for wiring schematics, P&ID circuits, layout drawings.

Candidates should be well organised, proactive, good communicators and able to take a lead and mentor junior technicians if required. The role is site based.
