Avanti Recruitment have partnered with an award winning automotive instrument design company near Milton Keynes to recruit an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join their R&D team working on projects for the automotive and motorsport world. This is a largely remote working role with an expectation of being onsite perhaps one day per month.

You’ll be developing embedded software for motorsport instrumentation enabling race teams to gather a wealth of information pertaining to the car, track and driver behaviour so they can make data driven decisions to influence race strategy and driver improvement.

You’ll be writing low level embedded C code for bare-metal or embedded Linux targets, helping develop new products and applications. The business is IP-rich and is looking to realise a number of new solutions and take them to market. You’ll need to be comfortable in requirements analysis with an ability to stick to project deadlines whilst working in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team of hardware electronics, firmware, software and apps Engineers for some of the biggest names in motorsport.

To succeed in this role, you’ll likely need:

4+ years experience and exposure to a number of successfully delivered products

Strong Embedded C (some C++ and Python would be useful, but not essential)

Expertise in realtime embedded systems – (preferably embedded Linux based)

Familiar with reading schematics and developing designs, using test and measurement equipment

Familiarity with comms protocols: I2C, RS485, UART etc.
