Job Profile
As the Quality Manager, your main focus will be to effectively manage, coach and develop the quality team, with a right first time / no fault forwards, prevention focused culture.
This covers the complete supply chain from suppliers, through internal manufacture, to customers.
Reporting to: Operations Director
Duties:
* To strategically and operationally develop, maintain and support the company’s quality management systems, including associated documentation, procedures, product & process quality standards/ adherence, supplier quality assurance, equipment and facilities
* Application of standardised problem resolution tools, to achieve adherence to specification and structured quality management of new parts and new issue levels into production
* Structured standardised problem-solving skills in a team environment, including 8D methodology
* Implement and sustain Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
* Close out facilitation of external / internal quality issues with robust structured factual investigations, root cause analysis, effective containment, and corrective action / prevention implementation
* Internal / External compliance with defined industry and business-related quality standards
* Audit, maintain and further develop the companies BS EN ISO9001 certification, manuals and procedures
* Senior management reporting of the primary quality performance measures / indicators / trends, and their continuous improvement
* The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role and the organisation’s overall business objectives, this may include the training and mentoring of colleagues
Skills & Experience:
* Demonstrable experience, knowledge and understanding of fabrication / welding / machining, hydraulics, electrical control systems manufacturing / engineering practices and quality assurance
* Engineering or an equivalent level of qualification in a technical discipline, to level 5 or above
* Leadership experience, knowledge and skills in quality management within an Automotive / Aerospace type engineering environment
* Excellent understanding of development techniques for parts and processes e.g., Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA)
* Understanding of Six Sigma and the related DMAIC approach
* Understanding of MRP / Manufacturing Systems and QM Modules
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including a good level of presentation skills (verbal & written), but focussed and summarised on a need-to-know basis where relevant
* Maintain a professional direct and indirect approach with all members of the company
* Credibility at all levels within the operations business. Focussed on the management of quality within each sector, including support and attendance of the Product Line daily stakeholder meetings
* Excellent man management skills, including the ability to act as a coach to the team and provide encouragement and support
* Decision making based on overall business requirements and best practice. Able to work to tight timescales and under pressure, whilst maintain a calm, prioritised and structured approach to all tasks / issues
Hours:
* 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday
