Summary of Position: To support pre and post sales activity by providing project design support for all conveyor related projects. Manage project designs from conception to detailed design freeze and BOM creation.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Provide design and specification support within the pre-sales phase, creating drawings to enable effective pricing
* Complete material flow analysis to enable concept designs
* Create 2D/3D drawings
* Automate BOM creation from Inventor
* Complete Design Risk Assessments to enable CE Declaration of Conformity, and for handover documentation.
* Complete Functional Specification Documentation (FDS)
* Build and develop standard parts library’s via iLogic, iParts, iAssemblies.
* Develop standard engineering items (brackets, estop assemblies, cable trunking, etc.) utilising CAD and Vault PDM.
* Build and maintain a knowledge base of systems, concepts and interfaces.
* Any other duties required within your capabilities.
* Project engineering functions to include: site surveys, project meetings and technical point of contact for project specific design.
* Maintain close customer engagement throughout design lifecycle of the project.
* Liase with multi-disciplinary teams (controls, electrical, projects) to ensure seamless design progression.
Education:
* Engineering degree, HND, FdSc, FdEng or HNC
Experiecne:
* Design of related conveyor components
* Knowledge of best practice in engineering design (inc. calculations) BS8888:2020, Machinery Directive, EN12100 and Functional Safety (IEC)
* Proficient in ‘Autodesk Inventor’ or an equivalent 3D CAD package and Vault.
* Understanding of project management best practices.
* Simulation calculations for throughput analysis, motor / drive sizing and general first principal engineering calculations (structural, machine elements and dynamics).
* Confident to attend customer meetings, site surveys and design reviews
