My client are leader in the development of vehicle racing products such as GPS data loggers, video overlay systems, GNSS Simulators, CAN interfaces and Traction Control.

They seek a Product Design Support Engineer to work within the product design team. Your role will be to support the electronic and mechanical design engineers engaged in designing new products and maintaining and upgrading existing products. This is a broad role including:

* Constructing product prototypes and development platforms for concept proving and testing

* Maintaining the information held in our part/component database including the management of component obsolescence and the identification of alternative parts.

* Assisting the purchasing team with technical details required for the procurement of components and parts.

* Liaising with our external component and assembly suppliers to communicate details of new products and updates to existing products.

* Working with the design, production and purchasing teams to manage the impact of changes to product and sub-assembly designs.

* Taking a lead role in organising EMC testing and safety assessments for products and maintaining records of test results and regulatory approvals.

* Collaborating on the continuous improvement our internal design data management process and working practices.

* Assisting in the handover of designs to the production team.

* Escalating of any unresolved issues.

The successful candidate should be technically minded and have the following experience:

* A qualification (A-level or above) in a STEM subject

* Experience in generating and/or managing product design documentation and data.

* Some knowledge of processes required to manufacture electronic products .

* Some electronics knowledge s would be highly desirable.

* Competence in the use of IT tools, especially Microsoft Excel
