Principal Structural Engineer – Milton Keynes
Our client is a multi-disciplinary engineering, environmental and project management consultancy who is seeking an experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join their Structural Engineering Services team in Milton Keynes.
What you will be doing:
Undertake structural design calculations in a variety of materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry in accordance with British Standards / Euro Codes to successfully deliver projects for the company's Clients.
Implement internal QMS procedures and ensure all designs comply with the company's internal checking protocols.
Full project management of design projects of all sizes including commercial delivery of projects, ensuring timescales and budgets are met.
Input into the preparation of fee proposals and develop associated design scopes.
Lead the design process from concept through to completion on projects of all sizes.
Undertake coordination with other professionals and contractors as appropriate.
Liaise with Clients and other members of the design team to ensure designs meet the Client brief including attendance at design team meetings / site meetings as required.
Work independently on smaller projects, or as part of a team on more significant schemes.
Collaborative working with company's other consulting offices across different disciplines.
Lead structural inspection projects.
Mentoring of more junior Engineers.
Actively pursue new business opportunities. What we're looking for:
Excellent knowledge of all relevant British Standards and Design Codes.
Designs will be produced by hand calculation or using Design Software as appropriate to the nature and magnitude of the project and to underpin this you will be expected to have an excellent understanding of Engineering Principles.
Proficient in the use of design software such as Tedds, Tekla, & CADS.
Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills in order to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
Excellent attention to detail.
The ability to lead a team of engineers and technicians.
Aptitude to work on your own initiative.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent IT skills.
Clean driving licence and use of a car.
Good awareness of all commercial aspects of projects.
Preferably proficient in the use of AutoCad. Expected Qualifications:
Degree in relevant Engineering subject.
Minimum of 7 years' experience working in similar engineering consultancy.
