Cobham Aerospace Connectivity are looking for a PCB Design Engineer to be responsible for the complete PCB design process from receipt of Schematic through to data archiving. Yuo will be the first point of contact for all simulation of PCB deigns, to include High speed, impedance control, cross talk, Power plane integrity, EMC.

This role is based in Marlow, Buckimghamshire

As a PCB Design Engineer your main duties and responsibilities will include:

Creating new schematic symbols, PCB footprints and parts library entries using Altium Creating mechanical 3D models to match the Altium footprint.
To generate PCB designs and PCB drawings to the agreed process and to agreed timescales.
Liaison with mechanical designers to ensure smooth interfacing of STEP data between Altium and Solidworks.
Arrange data transfer to PCB manufacturers and assemblers PCB data archiving with the use of simulation tools and the knowledge required, analysis of the PCB layout to:
Check for Crosstalk, High Speed ringing, impedance and whether the desired voltage and current are met from source to destination with regard to requirements.
Support the Team leader and other PCB designers in their duties (Team or Design)
Must be flexible and willing to work additional hours at short notice (if required)

As a PCB Design Engineer your skills and experience should ideally include:

An in-depth knowledge of Altium Designer 19/20
At least 4 years of PCB design experience
A knowledge of electronics and mechanical engineering
Layout experience in:
Multi-layer designs (2-12 layer)
Blind, Buried vias and Microvia
Routing of HDI technology (down to 0.4 pitch BGAs)
Routing of Highspeed memory DDR3/4, Impedance control – Ethernet, digital video, USB etc
High voltage clearances, Switch mode Power supplies, Power planes and heat distribution
Flexible circuit design
RF design layout
Layer stack design for impedance and good manufacturing practices
Design for manufacture including an in depth understanding of PCB manufacture and PCB component assembly
EMC design best practice

It would also be an advantage to have experience in SI Verify, Thermal management, Power integrity and SolidWorks
