Mechanical Design Engineer
Technip E&C Ltd is an engineering contractor and Technology Licensor working primarily in the Petrochemicals (including Chemical Recycling, Bio Ethylene, and other energy transition and carbon reduction technologies), Carbon Capture, Refining and Oil & Gas sectors. We work on projects to build or add to chemical plants and power stations from Singapore to the Sahara and Siberia to South Africa*. Our projects vary greatly in size (from a couple of thousand to several billion dollars) and scope (from the conceptual design to start-up and handing over the keys) but we have a particular emphasis on front end engineering design projects. * We even do projects in the UK.

Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description:
We are seeking a Mechanical Designer for major upstream, refinery or petrochemical projects located in both UK and international markets.
Based in Milton Keynes, with potential for travel globally, this role reports to the Project Engineering Manager, and Principal or Senior Mechanical Engineers.
Key interactions (internally, externally):
Internally: Functional Managers, all engineering disciplines (such as Technology, Process, Engineering Design) and all non-engineering disciplines (such as project controls, planning, procurement, construction)
Externally: clients, subcontractors, vendors, partners, authorities, licensors.
Mechanical Design Engineer Key Activities:
* Works under explicit direction from Mechanical Engineering Team members.
* Read and understand mechanical design drawings
* Develop basic understanding of project scope of work and of corporate policies and standards.
* Gather supporting documents and information as needed to support mechanical engineering design/deliverable activities.
* Develops a basic understanding of mechanical design scopes of work, vendor drawings and discipline drawings.
* Generates basic understanding of other discipline roles and responsibilities (e.g., Structural, Civil, Electrical, Controls, and Piping).
* Gains knowledge of relevant codes and standards applicable to project and equipment requirements (e.g., ASME, ANSI, and OSHA regulations) in execution of design.
* Utilises 2D CAD software – Autocad and MicroStation.
* Produces Mechanical Designs and Mechanical Drawings using approved software and tools.
* Adheres to defined CAD implementation procedures.
Background and expertise sought:
* Some initial experience in a mechanical engineering design company or other industrial settings.
* HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering subject.
* Effective communication skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Experience in using design tools such as MicroStation & Autocad in production of 2D drawings.
* A basic knowledge of production of 3D models would be beneficial
