BASIC SALARY: £35,000-£40,000 dependant on your relevant experience

JOB DESCRIPTION: Mechanical Design Engineer – Test Equipment / Instrumentation
Working as part of an established Engineering team, you'll be led by a hands-on manager who will empower you to grow and develop as an Engineer. This manager has been within the business for 10 years and has grown from an Engineer to now leading the department of six.
You will also work closely with the North American R&D team, largely on the redesign of existing technology, but with some new product development (NPD).
Your Responsibilities: Mechanical Design Engineer – Test Equipment / Instrumentation
· Design new technology and re-engineer existing products, 3D modelling in SolidWorks and utilising our Product Data Management (PDM) system
· Understand how product design is impacted by various manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, plastic injection moulding, sheet metal enclosures, fabrication, PCBA
· Creating engineering change notices (ECN's), new part numbers and descriptions (for hardware and bespoke parts)
· Project engineer the development from end to end internally
· Bring a highly creative, innovative and technical competency to the existing engineering team
· You'll have exposure to continuous improvement and understand ways to improvement the end to manufacturing process / how its impacts the overall business
Your Background: Mechanical Design Engineer – Test Equipment / Instrumentation
· Your educational background will be in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechatronics or a similar Engineering discipline. This could be apprentice trained to HNC/HND level or higher such as a B.Eng
· You will have a proven mechanical design background within electro-mechanical products / instrumentation – we are quite open on the actual product(s) you have actually designed
· Practical knowledge of Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) & 3D modelling experience (ideally in SolidWorks or similar like AutoCAD, CREO, Pro-Engineer, Solid Edge etc)
· Your design experience will extend to various mechanical manufacturing processes, i.e. plastic injection moulding, CNC machining, castings, sheet-metal enclosures, PCBA etc
