Job Profile
As the successful Material Planner, you will be reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager/Commodity manager and liaising with the following departments: Senior Commodity Managers / Commodity managers/Buyers and Purchasing Coordinators Production Engineering, Production, Sales, Design, Engineering, Team
Leaders, Logistics Controllers, Quality, Purchasing, Suppliers
Duties:
Liaise with suppliers and plan material requirements for the 2 sites.
Amend / change purchase orders / supplier schedules as required to meet production build plan.
Liaise with QA to ensure issue resolution in timely manner to meet production requirements.
Work with Logistics on stock discrepancy recovery and prevention.
Stock monitoring and measurement.
ERP Parameter assessment and amendment.
Expedite Amber shortage requirements.
Liaise with Purchasing on contract escalations.
Liaison with internal logistics / material control on stock issues and manufacturing supply.
Liaise with Logistics management and Purchasing management to develop appropriate supply strategies.
Escalate red shortages to the Commodity managers / buyers, with full background, evidence and facts surrounding the issue.
Development of material planning practices and procedures with Infor – Visual Manufacturing.
Liaise with suppliers on associated import documentation and requirements.
Liaise with transport providers on associated import documentation and requirements.
Categorisation of high / low level (ABC) parts and materials.
Maintenance and provision of supplier Kanban requirements.
Assess suppliers, be aware of issues at suppliers and monitor / publish / feedback information to commodity buyers, for negotiation, decision making and development.
Support and promote effective use of the rolling schedule system, with minimal fixed periods, plus supplier stock holding and combined volume pricing to the Suppliers, as part of purchasing team and strategy.
Key Deliverables:
The smooth and efficient supply of materials / parts to achieve the required production build plan. Resolution of shortage issues.
Line side stock accuracy in conjunction with logistics management.
Always maintain structured and professional working relationships with suppliers.
Maintenance of supporting IT ERP systems.
Optimise stock levels within the complete supply chain, without risk of stock out.
Ensure stock availability as necessary to meet production build plans.
Identification of opportunities for improvement.
Monitor supplier performance and advise purchasing management with KPI’s.
Development and automation of information reporting systems (Qlik).
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the companies ISO9001, ISO18001, and ISO14001 requirements.
Control and prevention of suppliers delivering ahead of schedule requirements, and in excess of schedule requirements. Introduction of pre advise notes and spread deliveries throughout the week.
Schedule balanced deliveries across each day of the week and throughout each hour of each day, to avoid peaks and troughs of supply to Goods In.
Experience:
A general knowledge of Engineering / Manufacturing Practices.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Material management.
Material planning.
Issue identification and resolution.
Ability to understand complex requirement schedules and interpret into manufacturing requirements. Ability to manage supplier relationships at all levels necessary.
Ability to escalate to senior personnel at suppliers as appropriate.
ERP system maximisation / functional utilisation.
A basic knowledge of Import / Export / Customs requirements.
Transport structures / options / costs.
Computer literate – with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Full UK driving licence.
Prepared to travel UK and abroad to assess / support the Supply base.
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively at all levels, including good level of presentation skills (verbal & written) focussed on relevant data and conclusions.
Ability to promote team working culture and the effectiveness of teams.
Ability to describe solutions / issues visually.
Some experience of purchasing and commercial law.

Hours:
8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday
