Land-Based Service Engineer- Apprentice
An exciting position has become available for a full-time Level 2 Land-Based Service Engineer- Apprentice based in Stowe, Buckinghamshire. The successful candidate’s salary will Circa £17,998-£19,012 depending on age. Core hours are 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday – Friday.
This is a full-time work-based training programme (37.5 hours per week) with a working pattern of Monday – Friday and you will be required to attend a residential college course at Wiltshire College, Lackham, which will consist of Blocks of 5 days Monday to Friday five times a year and you will be required to travel to and from college.
Accommodation, meals whilst at college and travelling expenses will be paid for by the company.
As an Ace Plant apprentice, you will work alongside one of our Service Engineers whilst studying at college for the Level 2 Land-based Service Engineer Technician Apprenticeship. You will gain practical experience in using a wide range of plant used in the construction industry. This is a combined programme of academic and work-based training, which means that you would have responsibilities as a college apprentice and Ace Plant employee.
Your responsibilities as a college apprentice would be to:
Produce academic assignments and coursework, e.g. in the form of reports, essays, diaries and presentations.
Attend, complete and pass a diverse range of assessment activities in the form of theoretical and practical exams, in order to complete the Programme.
Work as an individual and as part of a team when required.
Strictly adhere to current college, policies and procedures, in order to complete the Programme.
Your responsibilities as an RHS employee would be to:
Assist with a range of machinery tasks in the day to day servicing and maintenance of machinery within the workshop at Stowe. working in a team and individually to a standard agreed with your line manager.
Recognise the need for excellent customer care with other Ace Plant staff and the public. Actively develop your awareness and knowledge of the site, its activities and objectives in order to assist and interact with customers when required.
Participate in any training.
Adhere to current Health and Safety legislation and best practice in accordance with Ace Plants Health and Safety Policy Statement.
Must wear corporate work wear and special Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Be able with direction, to work with, service, repair and maintain a wide range of equipment, in a safe manner.
To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required of you in the post.
Applicant Criteria
Avid interest in Agricultural/Construction Plant and machinery.
Good team player with energy and enthusiasm, approachable, polite and friendly with a willingness to learn.
Ability to grasp information and apply recently gained knowledge.
Proficiency with speaking, reading and writing English to understand and communicate instructions and complete work records.
With guidance, organise daily work plans and be willing to try new areas of work.
Strong enthusiasm for working outdoors.
College Entry Requirements
Minimum GCSE grade E (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
All applicants will be required to pass initial assessments in Maths, English and ICT.
The ability to use IT and use a computer/laptop and accompanying software to produce coursework via Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and use Microsoft Outlook (an email system), the College's online learning environment (that you will be trained on how to use), and the internet to research and complete tasks.
