Our client, is a public distance Learning and Research University, and one of the biggest universities in the UK for undergraduate education.
They are looking to recruit a Laboratory Technician to help them with a large project within their STEM function.
The roles are to start asap until 31st July 2021, working 37hrs a week. The roles are working in the office/lab environment in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and at times will be working alone. Dependent on experience, the hourly rate is between £10.46ph – £12.71 per hour.
The department has a very large one-off project to deliver over 1,800 home experiment kits to students studying the engineering undergraduate program made necessary by the COVID19 pandemic. They are looking at processing in the region of 200,000 individual components on a short time scale to send out to the students.
Skills required:
Essential – Trade/craft background, experience of using workshop tools, machines and experience of working with different materials. This role will be at times working with wood and putting sheets of MDF into a CNC operational machine and working on mills and lathes. There may also be a need to use hand and power tools for metal work.
Desirable – Engineering work environment.
