Gibbs Gears Precision Engineers Ltd is a precision engineering company based in Stoke Mandeville near Aylesbury, specialising in complex prismatic parts for transmission and drive trains for aerospace, motor sport and the oil and gas industries.
About the vacant position
Position available:
Grinders – CNC and manual cylindrical grinders to set and operate J&S grinding machines (Aerospace & Motorsport -mechanical components).
Role Purpose: programming, setting, and operating of J&S CNC and manual grinding machines. External and internal grinding of shafts and gear parts for the Aerospace, motorsport and oil and gas industry. Interesting parts that are small to medium batch quantities. Applicant must be able to understand drawings with close tolerances and be experienced in grinding different types of materials.
Responsibilities:
* Setting and operating of J&S CNC and manual grinders
* Experienced work holding methods and best practice.
* High Precision machining.
* Working to close tolerances on a variety of materials to engineering drawings.
* Operating tools to engineering drawings and designs.
* Directly involved in continuous improvement programs and quality control.
Salary Negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
Shifts available – Std day, Late shift
Hours of work:
Std day shift Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 16:30pm – Friday 8.00am – 15.30pm
Late shift Monday to Thursday 2.00pm to 00.15am
Probation: 3 months
Holiday: Holiday 28 days including bank holidays.
Qualification & skills required for this position
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in setting and operating of CNC and manual grinding machines.
* We are looking for a team member who is also self-motivated, shows initiative, has the ability to problem solve and work alone.
* A sound working knowledge and understanding of machine tooling and proper tool usage is essential.

Training can be given.

Pension: After your 3-month probation, you are automatically enrolled into the government NEST pension scheme. This is a legal requirement. You will contribute 4% of your wages, while Gibbs Gears contribute a further 3%. If you wish to use an existing pension scheme, you may opt out just after the 3-month probation has finished
