A fantastic opportunity is available for experienced Process Engineers with a background on downstream Oil & Gas projects to work with a Major EPC Contractor based in the South East.
Job Description
You will be responsible for the delivery and coordination of technically complex process engineering design within proposals, studies, projects execution & operations, as part of a study and/or project team, in accordance with design & engineering standards & procedures, schedules and budget, with a continuous concern for quality standards, targets and customer satisfaction.
You will be responsible for delivery of project deliverables within agreed manhour budgets and schedule.
You will be responsible for checking and approving all project deliverables before issue.
Your job scope may include: (budget, management, specific criteria):
Activities dedicated to one specific study/project.
Analyses project specifications, tender and proposals requirements.
Technology evaluation, selection and economic assessment.
Process configuration and optimization studies
Contributes to the development of design parameters and methodologies.
Prepares technically correct, safe, environmentally friendly, cost & time effective discipline engineering analysis and solutions for approval.
Design basis and philosophy documents (safeguarding, shutdown, relief & blowdown, isolation), Process description, Process modelling and simulation, PFD’s and heat & material balance, MSD and material selection philosophy, Control scheme, Process and Utility P&ID’s. P&ID development including selection of design conditions, hydraulic analysis, line sizing and pipe specifications, equipment isolation, vent and drain systems, cause and effects. Simulations and calculations.
Sizing and specification of equipment including knowledge of distillation tower design and tray sizing, Sizing and specification of in-line Instrumentation
Utilities and chemicals consumption summaries
Provides support to all project activities, from engineering to start-up, as required.
Participates as discipline lead or area lead in safety, environmental and operability reviews (HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SIL)
Interfaces with other process engineering disciplines and design team(s).
Assists in development of a process knowledge databases for studies, projects and/or operations (capturing and reporting events & experiences within studies, projects & operations and writing of technical notes).
Relief system design including PSV sizing, flare hydraulics and radiation analysis.
May participate in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up.
Reports own activities within studies, projects and/or operations management.
Guarantees the compliance of process engineering solutions with client requirements, industry standards and Group HSE, engineering processes and best practices.
Coordinates process activities on tenders and project execution.
Provides less experienced process engineers with guidance and training and check their deliverables. Your typical background and experience will include:
Technology Awareness: Gas Processing, Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage Technology, Petrochemicals, Refining, Offsites & Utilities
Engineering Work Processes Inter-discipline coordination, change management
Industry Codes and Standards Knowledge (API, ASTM, ASME etc)
Leadership Ability to manage teams of process engineers and interface with other disciplines
Project reporting Ability to manage progress and schedule and adapt to changing circumstances Your experience must include:
University chemical engineering degree (BSc/MSc in Chemical Engineering) with minimum of 2-7 years as a process engineer
Theoretical knowledge of process design methods & tools.
Experience in Oil & Gas Processing in general, Refining and/or Ethylene/ Petrochemicals, preferably with an engineering contractor.
Process simulation: Hysys, PRO/II, PROMAX, Flarenet, Flaresim
Engineering Work Processes: Interdiscipline coordination, change management
Industry Codes and Standards: Knowledge of API 520, 521, 526, 527, 2000 etc
Leadership: Manages team of process engineers
Project reporting: Progress and schedule reporting Additional information:

Able to deal with challenging environments and technical requirements.
Still accountable for his/her own production of process solutions and may/will also coordinate process activities in other areas.
Ensures compliance of proposed solutions with standards & client requirements.
Will require occasional business travel
