Geotechnical Engineer – Milton Keynes
Murphy Group is looking for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer with a background in earthworks to support a high-profile build-only rail project in Milton Keynes. You will use your knowledge of earthwork construction and geotechnics to support the engineering and operational teams.

The Role
* Supervise site works and advise the project team on geotechnical aspects of the project works
* Input to ITPs and ensure frequency and quality of geotechnical testing of the earthworks construction in accordance with the ITP and design
* Undertake on-site testing and classification of soils
* Review, analyse and report the data in an appropriate format
* Communicate with foremen and supervisors to ensure full understanding of information provided.
* Advise on construction methodologies to ensure compliance with the project earthworks specification
* Implement and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures.
* Ensure the compilation of all H&S handover documentation is progressed
* Monitor the work under their control to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non-compliance with Company policies and procedures are promptly remedied.
* Liaise with Site Managers and Engineers
* Liaise with client's engineering representatives.
Your Profile
* First degree in Civil Engineering or Geology. Second degree in Geotechnical Engineering/Engineering Geology desirable
* 3 years' construction experience in earthworks schemes. Experience of Highway or Railway construction and application of the Specification for Highways Works highly desirable.
* Experienced in construction quality assurance of an earthworks
* Ability to work independently and make and clearly communicate operational decisions as works progress
* Chartership or working towards chartership status of relevant professional institute (ICE/Geol.Soc.)
* Full UK driving licence
