Job Role: Field Service Engineer

Location: Milton Keynes base – operational area covering East Anglia / Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire

Hours of Work: 08:00 – 17:00 Monday – Friday Full time (40 hours)

Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 Per Annum + Overtime (OTE: £40,000+)

Mainstay Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of one of the largest generator specialists in the UK. They currently have an opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to help meet the growing demand for their services across the eastern area of the country – Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be involved in supporting the Rental Service Department in the service and maintenance of our own rental fleet and also customers’ own equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Carry out planned service and maintenance work on customers’ and rental generators

* Carry out breakdown/fault finding to customer and rental equipment, resolving engine electrical and mechanical problems

* Electrical and mechanical component replacement

* Basic wet and dry engine service

* Carry out site surveys requests as required

* Provide call-out cover for generator breakdowns on a rota system

* Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy. This includes company vehicles.

* Comply with all aspects of the company ISO 9001:2015 quality management standards, ISO 14001: 2015 environmental management standards and occupational health and safety management best practice, proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement programme.

Skills and Experience Required:

* A relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Diesel Fitting/ Plant i.e., City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent.

* Served/completed an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering

* Proven experience servicing and repairing generator sets

* Have good fault-finding abilities and strong communication skills

* Previous experience of working in a Field Service environment advantageous

* Full Driving Licence essential

* Good customer awareness with the ability to respond to customers’ requirements effectively & efficiently

* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

* Holder of CSCS/ECS Card preferred
