Job Description:
* The role requires servicing, commissioning, and fault diagnostics/repair of a range of electronic and mechanical process control instrumentation
* To commission, calibrate and repair onsite instrumentation
* To work in all industries within the Company customer database
* To liaise with the Service Coordinators to ensure that all spares, tools, and paperwork is available to enable them to carry out their duties
* In the event of non-completion of the job, contact the Service Coordinator to arrange or confirm the next site visit
* To liaise with customers when required prior to executing the job to ensure full understanding of the nature of the job and to advise estimated time of arrival and of any delays which may be anticipated
* To adhere to site safety rules, permit to work systems and carry out risk assessments
* To work to local and industry procedures and to comply with industry codes of practice and the Company quality management system
* To man the 24-hour technical helpline according to the rosta set by the Service Coordinators
* Requirement to travel throughout the UK, overseas and possibly offshore
* Periods of absence from home will be expected from time to time which will include overnight stays in hotels
* Provide services and support to other departments and customers as deemed appropriate by the Services Manager
* To assist the development and training of other engineers and workshop staff as required
* Timely and accurate job reporting in accordance with the Company service report forms
Requirements:
* Ideally qualified to ONC/HNC level, preferably in Electronics or Instrumentation of control
* Recognised apprenticeship in the above disciplines is ideal or a minimum of 2 years' Process Control experience
* Problem solving and diagnostic skills
* To be highly self-motivated and can work on own initiative or as part of a team
* A flexible approach to working activities
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Assertiveness
* The ability to develop good working relationships with customers
* Good organisational skills
