Engineering Buyer
As a result of continued market penetration an opportunity has arisen within this market leading design, development and manufacturing organisation for a tenacious Engineering Buyer.
Working at both a strategic and tactical level within the purchasing team you will utilise your purchasing expertise as Engineering Buyer to:
Assist in the development and implementation of strategies for commodities and suppliers to achieve realistic long term relationships. This will be focused across mechanical / electro-mechanical and electronic commodity areas so experience in any of those disciplines, not all, sought.
Utilise your Engineering acumen to input into New Product Development Projects. Source new suppliers as required, sending out drawings for quotes and assessing capabilities
Negotiate prices and terms to ensure lowest cost (yet maximum quality) of supply of parts into the business
Utilize your technical knowledge to determine whether suppliers can meet quality and business need
Identify and exploit cost reduction opportunities
Consolidation of the supply base
In conjunction with the quality department, undertake and support supplier quality / business reviews
As well as undertaking Project work and other associated work as required
The ideal candidate will have proven purchasing / buying experience within an Engineering / Manufacturing environment, ideally automotive, aerospace or similar regulated environment coupled with engineering / mechanical / electro-mechanical or electronic commodity expertise. Knowledge of MRP required as is strong commercial awareness and the ability to negotiate.
