Electrical Maintenance Technician – Chemical Manufacturer – Milton Keynes – Day shifts (4 on, 4 off) – Perm – £28-34k + £7.5k shift allowance + 6% bonus = £37-43k – Benefits (Contribution of up to 10% pension scheme) = £40-47k
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Electrical Maintenance Technician to perform all instrumentation and electrical activities to maintain optimum life and operation of plant machinery and equipment.
Responsibilities and accountabilities:
* Provide technical advice in troubleshooting and problem solving situations
* Interrogate and analyse relevant P.L.C. software
* Carry out Preventive Maintenance and calibration routines to maximise equipment reliability, to reduce breakdown risk.
* Provide input and recommendations for improvements to the Maintenance Management System, Permit to Work Procedure, work access and personal safety provisions.
* Regularly check quality of instrumentation to meet production, safety and legal requirements
* Provide regular feedback and recommendations to improve the operability of plant machinery and equipment and reduce maintenance costs
* Regularly update all instrumentation and electrical documentation, drawings and perform software backups.
* Initiate requisitions for materials and follow up deliveries to fulfil job priorities
* Co-ordinate Instrumentation and electrical work during project work to achieve planned goals
* Performing daily instrumentation duties, and providing detailed technical advice during problem solving and troubleshooting activities to minimise the risk and duration of Plant breakdowns.
* Liaise with and maintain regular contact with vendor service engineers
* Provide necessary feedback and support regarding failures and repairs, recommend improvements that are required to increase equipment reliability and safety
* Must work in compliance with the requirements of the site management systems (IATF16949, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).
Requirements:
Education:
1. Electrical Apprenticeship
2. HNC or higher qualification
3. 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations
Work Experience:
1. Experience in similar plant and equipment
2. Have knowledge of current electrical regulations
Critical Competencies:
1. Personal Leadership – The position requires initiative, personal drive to get things done and problem solving skills. Able to communicate the status of requests for services beyond normal working hours.
2. Drives for results – ability to solve breakdown issues quickly in order to minimise production down time.
3. Customer Focus – Communicate with the production department regarding completing work orders and the closing out of Work Permits
Key skills:
1. Communication – this role has contact with all levels of personnel within the company and vendor personnel relating to maintaining companies.
2. Problem solving – to provide technical advice in troubleshooting and problem solving for the Production and Quality departments.
3. Fault finding – Be able to read circuit diagrams and perform basic fault finding using Siemens S5 and S7 software.
Job Details:
– Working hours – Day shifts 6am-6pm, 4 days on, 4 days off.
– Salary – £27,840 – £34,800 depending on skill, knowledge and experience.
– Pensionable shift allowance – £7,500
– Bonus scheme – Payment in line with prevailing company scheme – potential of 6% of basic salary.
– Pension scheme – Salary Sacrifice Pension scheme with employer contributions of up to 10% matching double employee contributions.
– Annual Holidays – 25 x 12 hour shifts. No bank holidays, these are worked as part of the shift pattern.
