Design Engineer – Advanced Engineering

A business with an exciting product range and currently undergoing a push to aid a carbon neutral environment is seeking a Design Engineer to the join the business on a 12-month Contract basis.

The Design Engineer Role:

– Develops fit-for-purpose concepts for battery products and provides technical advice for RFI/RFQ activities for the technical function
– Supports product planning and provide technical input for future road-maps and technology development plans
– Supports cross-program strategic continuity of design
– Understands and employs the fundamentals of mechanical, thermal and electrical battery design
– Run fit-for-purpose battery attribute analysis and apply knowledge & application of analytical tools
– Applies processes such Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, Failure Incident Review Group (FIRG) and tools such as 7-step problem solving to enable high quality decision making in concept development

The Successful Design Engineer:
– Degree in relevant engineering discipline with a minimum 5 years relevant experience.
– CAD design experience (either with CATIA, Creo, NX etc.)
– Working experience with Battery Systems / Electrification
– Understanding of fundamental design principles & toolsets (DFM, DFA, DFMEA, design in context)
– Familiarity with product design life cycle management (PLM) – particularly in concept development
– Self-motivation, time management and proactive prioritisation essential
– Strong people skills and the ability to work with a wide range of individuals

This role is assessed as within IR35 and as such candidates must be paid PAYE or Umbrella PAYE.

PAYE = £29.50                     

Umbrella Gross = £39.50
