Our client is looking for a Design Engineer to support the commercial team and produce designs for new products within the fibre optic marketplace. This role will be involved in designing products for uncontrolled environments such as external junction boxes and sub-sea cabling.

Core responsibilities will be to:

* Design and develop new products in collaboration with Quality, Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain.

* Limit product failures through documentation accuracy.

* Report progress monthly.

* Create and maintain technical documentation.

Ideally you will have experience of working with fibre optic or copper cabling and passive connectivity. Knowledge of outside plant product development would also be helpful.

Sheet metal, plastics and polymers are all used in the manufacturing process so a well-rounded mechanical engineering background, with degree-level education is desired. The role can be hybrid, with 2-3 days per week in Milton Keynes, and the rest working from home. There'll be a requirement of roughly 10% travelling to manufacturing locations in the UK and overseas. You will form part of a global engineering team and confidence communication with, and presenting to others using technology is key.
