Better conditions are important. You're used to leaving controls software in better condition. But what about better conditions for you?
Here's an opportunity to make a positive move for yourself, and be supported by a company who can provide you with just the right amount of work and also offer you a long-term career.
You would be working as an C&I Development Engineer within a business which generates green energy from captured methane, which would otherwise be wreaking havoc with Mother Earth. So you can sleep well knowing you're part of the solution.
You'll be working a Monday-to-Friday days-based position with no call-out rota, but you'll have to be OK with frequent travel to different sites, with perhaps one-to-two days a week working from home.
This role will offer you the opportunity to work in a diverse, growing, medium-sized business who foster a collaborative approach, with the chance to grow and develop within the company and broaden your skills.
In the role of C&I Development Engineer you would be working for one of the few companies in the UK with a negative carbon footprint, contributing a positive impact towards climate change.
Most of the work will be in the South of England, so as long as you're OK with travelling during the week you can be based anywhere below Birmingham/Leicester/Peterborough. Although there's always a chance you may need to go further on occasion.
Your challenges will mainly involve the integration, modification and standardisation of existing PLC code across a diverse range of sites. This could include redesigning existing control systems & changing control philosophies.
You'll mostly be working on Allen Bradley and Wonderware platforms, but also interfacing with Siemens PLCs too. However, having previous experience on these specific platforms isn't essential.
You won't need experience in programming PLC software from scratch, but if you've previously integrated controls software/hardware this will get you off to a strong start.
Although you may end up providing technical direction to more junior engineers, this is very much a hands-on role and so you'll need to be capable of troubleshooting both C&I software and hardware.
You'll also get to develop some project management skills in coordinating activities for new projects, and get to enjoy working quite autonomously once you're comfortably onboarded to the business.
There's some freedom for this role to grow into directions of your choosing, whether that be more involvement in data-handling or tinkering with creating your own solar-powered remote telemetry units.
The package will be around £45,000 – £55,000 depending on your extent and relevance of experience, plus up to 25% bonus paid on a quarterly basis, a car allowance and 25 days holiday.
