Contracts Engineer / Project Engineer

A Contracts Engineer or Project Engineer is required for a busy engineering company based in Bedfordshire. Working as part of a small team within a low volume / high value manufacturing environment, you will provide contract management services for the execution of customer orders from point of receipt to final, on site, acceptance.
With key responsibilities within internal project management, key duties will include:
• Managing handover from Sales Dept, communication of requirements to the organisation, setting out timelines, specification and budget expectations.
• Reviewing, finalising and managing the terms of contract including variations
to scope
• Oversee internal program of works through combination of formal reviews,
direct action and discussion with internal heads of department and assigned
project engineers.
• Monitor & report on cost, program and specification adherence identifying
variations, risk and managing resulting actions to recover.
• Act as the voice of the customer ensuring their best interests are served.
• Preparation of contract documentation including Contract Data Sheet (CDS),
Project Plans & O&M Manuals.
• Co-ordination of delivery, installation, commissioning & training activities.
External customer management will also be a key factor of this position, acting as a contact point from order award to final, on site, acceptance.
Candidates will have had similar experience in Contracts Management with strong project management of mechanical capital equipment supply. You will have experience of NEC 3 Engineering and Construction Contracts. Any experience of Water Industry Mechanical & Electrical Specifications (WIMES) would be beneficial. You will have a technical / manufacturing background with an understanding of BoMs, Material Specifications and experience of reading and interpreting technical drawings. Candidates must be commercially astute with familiarity of contract law. MSProject, Excel and Word experience are all important, as is experience of MRP/ERP systems.
Candidates will be required to travel to customer sites in the UK
