Contract Engineering Buyer, New Products

Highly innovative design, development and manufacturing company are currently at an exciting stage of product development on a key new product. As such they are seeking a talented Engineering Buyer to undertake a varied purchasing role interfacing internally with design & development and project teams as well as externally with suppliers.

Supporting the Supply Chain Manager you will utilise your purchasing skills to ensure the availability of parts / materials for both pre-production and production build stages.

This requires supporting NPI activities utilising your mechanical commodity and materials experience.

Key accountabilities as Buyer will include:

Sourcing mechanical commodities / engineered parts for production

Utilising your negotiation skills to undertake commercial negotiation, and be part of the strategic tender process, making recommendations to the management team on sources of supply

Placing purchase orders for timely delivery of parts for both low volume pre-production and higher volume production builds

Utilising tools to maximise value for money and reduce spend

Identifying new suppliers and monitoring performance / cost effectiveness

To succeed in this varied and interesting role you will need to be a Production Buyer / Engineering Buyer familiar with sourcing mechanical commodities including metalwork / machined parts. Purchasing / procurement / buying experience in a production environment, strong negotiation skills and familiarity with SAP or ERP / MRP system required.
