The buyer / commodity manager position offers the opportunity to work with an International, market leading engineering and manufacturing organisation, based close to the Milton Keynes area. Within the business you will be responsible for the strategic and tactical purchasing of a wide range of commodities, such as paints, fixtures and fittings to support several manufacturing units across the UK.
Key Duties:
Expediting deliveries and negotiating lead times across a set of fixed commodities
Resolving day to day supply issues to ensure component parts arrive in time as part of the procurement process
Supporting the Director of purchasing with day to day purchasing activities as required to identify, negotiate and implement collaborative relationships with key suppliers where appropriate.
Negotiating and implementing contracts, through a range of tendering processes to meet business needs
Identify and recommend suppliers whilst seeking to rationalise the supply chain and procurement / buying process, where appropriate
To provide ongoing support to the Manufacturing and Support teams through sourcing strategies and pricing forecastsExperience and Qualifications Required for the commodity manager / buyer position:
Experienced procurement professional, buyer, commodity manager with a background in manufacturing or engineering
A high-level understanding of procurement and sourcing processes, including contract negotiations and key performance measures – RFTs etc.
Skilled negotiator adept at managing complex negotiations to realise efficiencies within the supply chain
SAP experience if desirable but not essentialWhat is offered in return:
6-month contract initially, which could be extended
Day rate – £350- £400 per day
