Our client has been established for more than half a century and specialise in the installation and support of conveyor and materials handling solutions for clients throughout the world, and as a result of continued success and an exciting program of strategic growth for 2022 and beyond, are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Commissioning Engineer to complement their motivated and professional team.
Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the successful candidate will work as part of a small team tasked with the design and commissioning of complete electrical, mechanical and controls packages for MHE projects from start to finish and will include responsibility for the correct operation of the solution to the customers' satisfaction. Depending on the customer requirements, a project may include simple wiring of Motor Starts and E-stop circuits to Full PLC controlled systems, Panel design, remote IO and with HMI and external interfaces.
As a commissioning engineer, you will work closely with the mechanical, electrical, controls and systems engineering teams and will take responsibility for the building and commissioning and arranging go-live support of new machines, including training to both internal and external customers, whilst ensuring compliance within an ISO9001 framework. You will be responsible for the preparation, configuration, installation and commissioning of bespoke projects whilst assisting with the development and delivery of training courses and of FDS and associated training and system documentation.
You will also be responsible for providing on site and remote technical assistance on equipment, acting as liaison between the customer's technical team and ensuring the timely management and recording of issues, and for providing technical support to the sales team and in their new customer development activities. Other duties will include the reporting of technical issues to project teams and planning to mitigate risks and for all FAT and SAT activities both in UK and overseas.
To be considered for this varied and challenging commissioning engineer role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline and demonstrate a good understanding of electrical, mechanical and controls and system design along with proven knowledge and experience in the configuration and program modification of PLC, IPC and HMI's with experience of leading successful projects within the materials handling industry (including labeling systems) proving distinctly advantageous.
With excellent communication skills at all levels and a logical approach to problem solving, you will be skilled in the installation and operation of Cognex systems and Tia Portal along with previous experience in the service and commissioning of MHE systems.
