SRA Engineering are looking for an experience CNC Machinist to join a manufacturing business in Milton Keynes.
Main Purpose of Job:
Provide Technical support to the CNC Machining operation through the development of Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Programme and Tooling Sheets for legacy products.
Support the development of 5S and production area layout to support improved efficiency and Machine Utilisation.
Develop the process for the effective and efficient loading and planning of the machines.
Attend daily Stakeholder meetings and take responsibility for actions related to Production Engineering improvement tasks
Support the development of apprentices in line with their training requirement from the AMRC
Main Tasks of Job:
* CNC program compilation and prove out, tooling evaluation and purchase;
* Control of all tooling and consumable costs;
* Process and Product improvement / development;
* Creation of process instruction and process control documentation;
* Maintenance of key performance indicators;
* Ability to edit CNC programs;
* Able to load and operate Horizontal/Vertical CNC machining centres;
* Working knowledge of CNC controls, be able to identify and correct programming and tooling errors;
* Ability to build & set cutting tools;
* Ability to use gauges and measuring equipment for inspection purposes;
* Ability to read engineering drawings;
* Assist in workplace / layout / workflow improvement and 5S implementation;
* Be a committed team player with emphasis on flexibility, productivity and be focused continuous improvement;
* The above is not an exhaustive list of duties, and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation, this may include training and mentoring colleagues.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Apprentice trained machinist with 5 years post machining experience;
* Previous experience of managing and developing CNC machining processes;
* Educated to HNC level or equivalent;
* PC literate with emphasis and Microsoft Excel and Word software;
* Ability to read engineering drawings;
* Extensive experience of CAD/CAM software and strategies.
* Awareness of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations.
Hours of work are 40, Monday – Thursday 7.30am – 4.30pm (30 minutes lunch) Friday 7.30am – 1.30pm (no break). 25 days holiday plus public holidays, 5% matched Company pension, Healthcare scheme (funded by the business for the individual but can be upgraded to include family members at employees cost), life insurance 2x salary
