This is an exciting opportunity to join a clean technology company focussed on the chemical recycling of mixed plastic waste. My client is helping to build the circular economy for plastics by sustainably and economically diverting plastic waste from landfill and incineration. The technology converts non-recyclable plastic waste into valuable petrochemical resources to produce new plastic products.
My client is about to finalise development of, and build, their first commercial-scale plant that will process 27,000 tonnes of plastic waste per annum, located in the Netherlands.
You will be working to help in the delivery the clients first commercial chemical recycling plant to the market in the Netherlands. The role will require regular travel between the UK and the Netherlands.
The Chemical Engineer role is focused around the R&D plant, working to further the research and process engineering functions across the site and to deliver meaningful insights into the process, technology and products. The role will be based in the UK, primarily working between home, London and the R&D site in Buckinghamshire.
The Chemical Engineer will be required to do the following;
Provide process engineering function to the R&D site, including equipment analysis, specification and selection
Be responsible for the reporting and analysis of research campaigns utilising the R&D site
On site distillation & analysis of the company’s product streams
Process and chemical engineering support for the commercial scale plant in development
Preparation and checking of process deliverables – PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, specifications, process descriptions, philosophies and narratives
Contribute to the design process of the R&D technology upgrades at all stages of design, procurement and commissioning
Prepare and / or assist with the generation and update of various documentation
Provide operational & maintenance support to the on-site engineering team
Travel Uk and EuropeThe Chemical Engineer is required to have the following;
Degree qualified in a relevant field (Chemical) or equivalent experience.
5+ years’ experience as a chemical engineer/chemist in a similar industry.
A willingness to do hands on work.
Experience within pyrolysis is beneficial.
Experience in projects during conceptual engineering & FEED.
Experience working on P&IDs, Process Flow Diagrams & Equipment selection.
Experience working on safety assessments, such as SIL assessments, HAZOP and HAZAC.
Experience working on Pilot or R&D scale plants is beneficial.
Driving Licence – Be comfortable with travelling to meet customer/suppliers
