The buyer position offers the opportunity to work with an International, market-leading engineering and manufacturing organisation, based close to the Milton Keynes area. Within the business you will be responsible for the procurement of a wide range of commodities supporting manufacturing units across the UK.
Key Duties:
The utilisation of SAP in the processing and expediting of procrement activities
Expediting deliveries and negotiating lead times across a set of fixed commodities
Resolving day to day supply issues to ensure component parts arrive in time as part of the procurement process
Supporting the Director of purchasing with day to day purchasing activities as required to identify, negotiate and implement collaborative relationships with key suppliers where appropriate.
Negotiating and implementing contracts, through a range of tendering processes to meet business needs
To provide ongoing support to the Manufacturing and Support teams through sourcing strategies and pricing forecastsExperience and Qualifications Required for the commodity manager/ buyer position:
Experienced procurement professional, buyer, commodity manager with a background in manufacturing or engineering
A high-level understanding of procurement and sourcing processes, including contract negotiations and key performance measures – RFTs etc.
Skilled negotiator adept at managing complex negotiations to realise efficiencies within the supply chain
SAP experience is essentialWhat is offered in return:
12 -month contract initially, which could be extended or made permanent
Salary up to £35 per annum
