Job description
We are seeking an Assistant Plant Engineer to assist with the design, installation, commissioning and testing of medical gas plant under the supervision and guidance of a more senior engineer. In this role you will also be trained in the process of service and repair. This role is customer focused working within NHS and private hospitals in the UK.
This is primarily a training and development role. The applicant must demonstrate the aptitude, capability and willingness to work under close supervision and commit to attendance at and completion of an appropriate course of further education if necessary. They must either have previous work experience in an installation and/or service environment or must show that they have a grasp of basic engineering principles.
The hours of the role are Monday to Friday 8:30-17:00.
Duties and responsibilities
Some of the duties and responsibilities associated with this role include:
* Working in accordance with industry standards and hospital requirements. From 1 April 2022 new government regulations will require all those who work in hospitals to be fully vaccinated.
* Carrying out defined aspects of any pre-installation or installation in accordance with instructions issued by the senior engineer and under their direct supervision and control.
* Creating and/or maintaining any records that might reasonable be required including, but not limited to:
* Plant Asset register
* Materials requisition
* Fitters Report
* Carrying out plant service, maintenance and repair under the direct supervision and guidance of the senior engineer
* Reporting any major issues that may/will affect medical gas supply.
* Submitting job summary and maintenance reports.
Educational requirements
* A Bachelor Degree in a related field (graduate considered)
Experience required
To be considered for this role you will have an engineering background, with:
* Some mechanical engineering experience.
* Some electrical engineering experience would be an advantage.
* Experience with AutoCAD/design/drawing would be an advantage.
Also required:
* Good attention to detail and good organisation skills.
* A proactive approach to health and safety.
* Ability to prioritise and identify solutions.
* A positive can-do attitude and problem-solving mindset.
* Self-motivated, disciplined and methodical in approach.
* Ability to build positive relationships with customers.
* A clean driving licence
