Traditionally an RF focused product development business, our client is investing heavily as they extend their capability with a more technical development, research and development focus. Particular focus currently is around the development of space/satellite products with recent multi-million-pound business wins in that sector. With this in mind they are looking to appoint a Senior VHDL Digital Electronics Design Engineer ideally on a permanent basis (although they will consider a short term contractor)

Info about what the role entails

We are looking for a Senior VHDL Digital Electronics Design Engineer / Architect for an exciting space project at the detailed design phase. The initial project is for a company seeking to develop an earth observation satellite, they have a baseline architecture and are moving to the next phase of the project. They are looking for a Senior VHDL Digital Electronics Design Engineer to manage the digital layout protocols and liaise with the customer to move the project forward. Longer-term the scope of the role will include expanding the client's digital portfolio so there will be lots of product development opportunities in highly regulated sectors like Medical, Defence and Space.

Essential Requirements of the Senior VHDL Digital Electronics Design Engineer / Architect

* BEng degree in a relevant engineering discipline

* Broad knowledge of digital systems architecture and interfaces between boards (RF, DAC, ADC etc)

* FPGA design experience with VHDL

* Verification and test experience (JTAG) – experience with the release of code in line with the software verification plan

* An understanding of DSP protocols and architecture

* Experience with CAN-BUS or similar command and control interfaces

* SC clearable

Nice to Have Requirements of the Senior VHDL Digital Electronics Design Engineer / Architect

* Previous experience in the space/satellite sector

* Any experience with digital beamforming or delay implementation

* Python programming

* LabVIEW scripting experience

* C/C++ programming
