The company offers a managed storage, maintenance and technical support service to freelancers working in the film and television industries as well as specialist rental equipment to film production companies from their facility based near Beaconsfield. Brief description
We make custom camera and video cables to order, we also design, build and supply cutting-edge systems for DIT, Data Managers and Video Operators. From on-set grading systems to rendering and archiving stations to QTAKE rigs, we deliver bespoke solutions to meet our clients’ exact requirements.
We are looking for a junior engineer that is able to help with the manufacturing and testing of components as required while developing into a fully skilled and independent engineer over time. The right candidate will be process driven with a good degree of flexibility, initiative and common sense. A team player with a positive outlook and a can-do attitude who can take ownership of a task and see it through to completion.
You will be working with our senior engineers, supporting them to develop our engineering department.
You do not need to have film-based technical experience, but you will need to have a passion and understanding of electronics and engineering, have good tool skills, be good with technology and find it easy to learn how to use new technical equipment.
Training will be provided but having good tool skills is essential and being able to solder will be helpful. You will also support our operations team, preparing and testing equipment, managing client requests and providing technical support. This will also involve occasional driving duties delivering and collecting equipment to and from film studios and rental houses. A driving license is therefore necessary in this role.
Main Responsibilities:
● Cable assembly and soldering
● Equipment modifications
● Cleaning, maintenance & manufacture of technical equipment.
● PAT testing – training course provided
● Receiving and processing new products – asset listing and uploading information onto our dedicated asset management system.
● Assembly and testing of hire equipment.
● Delivery and collection of equipment to and from film studios. This could occasionally involve early starts/ late finishes and occasional weekends.
● Goods In – receiving deliveries/post and processing related paperwork, checking technical equipment is in good working order.
● Shipping goods – preparing goods for shipping and booking shipments
● Building and testing the AV technical equipment for hire to film productions.
Candidate Requirements:
● Interest in electronics and or technical equipment
● Assembly and soldering experience
● Background in electronics assembly and soldering
● Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy
● Clean driving licence
● Physically active – moving and handling of heavy equipment is required
● Common sense – ability to work unsupervised
● Conscientious and positive attitude with the ability to work under pressure.
● Flexibility – the company priorities often change unexpectedly, and you will need to be able to change duties at short notice.
● Discretion – working in sensitive areas of film production
● Computer literate – competent with MS Office – Excel, Word and Apple with ability to learn new programs and applications quickly
Desirable but not essential:
● Higher education in electronics engineering
● Providing remote technical support to operators in the field
● Building and testing the AV technical equipment for hire to film productions.
Working Conditions
● 42.5 hours per week
● Hours of Business – 8am to 6pm covered in shift patterns, with the flexibility to work outside of these hours if required.
● Monday to Friday – some weekend hours may be required
● Holiday 20 days per year excluding bank holidays
