Experienced C++ Software Engineer – Embedded Systems – Unmanned Aerial Systems

Avanti Recruitment have partnered with a high profile R&D organisation just outside Milton Keynes to recruit a senior level C++ Engineer for their design team working on cutting edge UAV’s.

You’ll be working on a mixture of R&D / product development with a recognised leader in their space – continuously innovating and leading the way in research for autopilot systems, ground control stations and intelligent autonomous aerial systems.

They pride themselves on the culture they’ve created, with a flat structure, a merit-over-tenure system for promotion and advancement and a forward thinking, ideas-based, collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. (They really are a great bunch of people!).

You’ll be involved in all areas of their software design efforts from real-time design and development through to implementation test and integration for their new products. As the UAV’s they develop are used in commercial and industrial environments, you’ll be designing software with safety in mind, though previous experience to standards driven environments isn’t required.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

• Experience with C++ on embedded systems (some C would be useful too).

• Experience working on Linux (or an RTOS)

• To be committed to developing quality code with a test driven approach to development.

• Ability and willingness to mentor more junior engineers – there’s room to progress to team lead positions too if you want it).

• Experience with quality or safety critical standards (useful, not essential)

• Good communication skills for internal and external technical discussions.

• Above all, you’ll need to be a problem solver with a solid SW development background.
